VOTE NO! on Florida Redistricting Amendments 5 and 6

VOTE NO! on 5 and 6, Florida Amendments 5 and 6. These Amendments do nothing to end Gerrymandering. What is Gerrymandering style redistricting?

These Amendments are actually Standards on how to Gerrymander. They do nothing to end the corrupt process. If anything they will create even more convoluted districts.

The standards are set up with the intent to benefit minorities. What will really happen? The vague wording is an attorneys dream. Every District in the State will have massive litigation issues, costing taxpayers millions more than the existing process.

These proposed amendments will bottleneck the process. The big winner with these amendments will be attorneys, with taxpayers footing the bill.

In a tough economy more unnecessary wasteful spending is not what Florida needs.

What Florida and Floridians need instead, is to find a way to end Gerrymandering.

Using the graphic above representing the before (Gerrymandered) and after (Fair Redistricting) examples, look at the long Dark Blue district on the lower right(South Eastern) portion of the left (Gerrymandered) map.

That is Florida's Congressional District 22. The District runs up Florida's East Coast from Fort Lauderdale all the way up to Jupiter. This district runs along the Beach Coast predominately through some very wealthy areas.

The non-Gerrymandered map on the right shows District 22 as a shorter round area covering equally East, West, North and South. Covering an area more Westward provides diversity in both income and ethnicity, which creates a Congressional District that is fair for all. Isn't that what everyone wants?


The real job for Florida voters lies ahead. The more new untainted Representatives we vote into office the better our chances. Our Representatives in office that depend on Gerrymandering for re-election will fight tooth and nail to stop the move towards Fair Districts.

But, for now we have to deal with two disturbing Amendments.
